TUCAN: “TOWERS” ALBUM LAUNCH
Tucan’s most recent guise as a 6 to 8 piece ‘big band’ sees their dynamic, textured guitars, moody fat bass and epic, signature stomping drums, complemented by the subtle power and orchestral overtones of their brass and string section.

Their latest album ‘Towers’ showcases their ever-evolving sound with compositions that are cinematic in scope with swelling crescendos offset by layered harmonies and melodies. It was produced by Torsten Kinsella (God is an Astronaut) at his studio in Wicklow, Ireland.

It’s all a far cry from their earliest inception as a frantic paced guitar duo (D. Gunne & P. Feeney) who after their ‘Aliquot Strings’ album charted upon its release in ’09 enlisted Paul Wehrly to bring his unique virtuoso drumming skills to the live equation. Bass was also added, and after a few faces came and went, the sweet tones and deft ear of Graham Heaney found ownership of this role.

The addition of the Brass section (D. Mc Guiness, K. Foran, D. Molloy, B. Quinn) with its swinging counter melodies and impressive drive perfectly fits the expansive outlook of the group and certainly aids in knocking socks off live audiences.

Tucan were also delighted to be able to feature the inimitable styling’s of Austrian violinist extraordinaire, Claudia Schwab on the album, who also features on vocal duties for a couple of tracks. When circumstances permit Claudia sometimes joins the Tucan juggernaut on the road and helps add another dimension to the stage show.
