Oh Pep! unveil the first single, Doctor Doctor, from their debut album, Stadium Cake. The Melbourne duo also announced details of their first European tour this summer, including support slots with Lake Street Dive and festival dates at Primavera Sound and The Great Escape. Stadium Cake is set for release later this year.

Doctor Doctor follows on from what has been an incredible 18 months for Oh Pep! At CMJ’15, KCRW chalked them up as one of their top artists that “won” the festival, while NPR’s Bob Boilen their music as “infectious.”After their performance at Nashville’s Americana’s, Pop Matters (who also included them in their top picks) described “Seeing Oh Pep! Is one of those times when the crowd realizes they’re seeing future stars for the first time.” KEXP also named them one of 2016’s “bands to watch.”

Olivia Hally and Pepita Emmerichs formed Oh Pep! while at music secondary school in Melbourne, Australia. With three EPs under their belt since 2012, Oh Pep!’s debut LP Stadium Cake is a coming of age for the duo. Recorded at Echo Lake, Nova Scotia in February and August of 2015 with Canadian producer, Daniel Ledwell, Stadium Cake is set for release later this year.

On “Doctor Doctor” Hally sings,”Where is the light, for me it’s the darkest night” over a captivating beat, whilst Emmerichs plays a subtly driving and haunting violin line. It’s this same light and dark that encapsulates the duos unique collaboration. It’s the yin and yang of their personalities that brings a tension to each unsuspecting pop song.

While on their North American tour last autumn the band recorded NPR’s Tiny Desk giving fans a chance to see Pepita Emmerichs’ virtuosic playing on both mandolin and violin and Olivia Hally’s gorgeous voice and heartbreaking delivery. Watch

2016 sees the pair take to the road once more with a debut European tour, including a string of show’s with Lake Street Dive and performances at Primavera Sound as well as an extensive tour of Australia and North America supporting Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
