native Dublin as well as Ulster & Scotland. The late Frank Harte would have
thrilled at his deliveries of some of the more humourous and bawdy ballads.

Scotland and at venues all over Ireland, Playing with many legendary musicians.
His bewildering knowledge of balladry draws on a wide range of material from
Europe, America & Australia covering military, humourous, industrial, rural,
urban and romantic songs.
Jerry Lombard

England and America. He has a seemingly endless repertoire of tunes and an
equally extensive collection of tales and yarns to entertain one and all.

Cathal hickey

master of the 4 string tenor banjo, and has played extensively at home and
abroad. He is also regarded as one of the finest music teachers in the south

Spillane has toured America, Germany and sold out Vicar Street performing on a
double bill with one of his musical heroes Christy Moore.

realism that permeates many of his songs as he effortlessly flits between
beautiful poetry tinged with melancholy to roguish, irreverent Cork humour.

ERIC BELL BAND (TBC),
Eric’s
contribution to Irish rock n roll history was set in stone the day he met Philip
Lynott and drummer Brian Downey in Dublin in 1969, together these three young
men went on to form the almighty Thin Lizzy, arguably Irelands greatest rock
group ever. In the years that followed Thin Lizzy went on to conquer the musical
world, paving the way for an international Irish rock invasion. After leaving
‘Lizzy’, Eric’s own fate became irrevocably entwined with Clonakilty when a long
time friendship with original Jimi Hendrix bass player Noel Redding saw him
moving to the town to start a band with the local legend, thus was born the
Clonakilty Cowboys. Eric plays today with originbal Clonakilty cowboy Les
Sampson on drums and his son Sonny on bass.

DAVID HOPE & THE HENCHMEN (TBC)
David Hope & The Henchmen
are a new four piece band who, since joining forces last summer, have been
performing regularly around the country. The band features material written by
highly respected songwriter David Hope from Co. Clare, as well as material
written by the other band members and the occasional cover version thrown in for
good measure. They are influenced by many different styles of music, ranging
from the classic, rootsy American recordings by Robert Johnson, Hank Williams
and Doc Watson, to many of the great songwriters like Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Neil
Young, Steve Earle, Townes Van Zant and Guy Clark, towards the contemporary
Americana sounds of Calexico, Bright Eyes, Gillian Welch and Tim O'Brien.

HOUSE OF COSY CUSHIONS,
House of
Cosy Cushions, debut album 'Animal Dream' is a far cry from the suggested
comfort of this bands name, instead its a stark mix of hard rock & jazz
pop threaded through with wispy surrealism and lyrical introspection. While at
times unsettling the albums over all honesty and sublime execution is its
beauty. Live the band faithfully recreates the records dynamic hard edges and
gentle curves with passion and conviction. Nominated for a Meteor award for
'Hope of 2009' this August will see HOCC's return to Debarras with the awesome

Gustaff’s laidback approach to life is often
reflected in his musical musings. This year saw him become president of UL’s DJ

PIERCE TURNER,
Whether, as a singer, songwriter or performer, Pierce Turner
has a penchant for the unexpected and the unorthodox, re-writing the rules of
all of the above. Sometimes he performs from behind his trusty keyboard backed
by a solo instrument (sax, maybe, or violin or trombone!). Or he can be out
front-of-house clambering over tables and ordering drinks from the bar, in the
middle of a song! His albums too, are equally mercurial, showing influences
ranging from his Catholic Irish upbringing to the decadence of Lou Reed's New
York, merging the upfront rock of The Byrds, The Beach Boys and The Who to deft
touches of Irish trad, folk, jazz, techno, classical and choral harmonies. He
has been described as one of the most important artists of the last 20 years and
counts Christy moore and Brad Pitt among his biggest fans. Pierce returns to
Ireland after months in New York recording with Philip Glass and performing with
Iggy Pop, & Patti smith at Carnegie Hall.

SETMAKER,
are one of the finest young
bands to come out of Clonakilty, they have won numerous national competitions
since they were formed and continue to blast audiences away with their
alternative folk rock all over the country. The band boast two amazing vocalists
in the forms of Ciaran Calnan and Aidan Hayse as well as the hugely talented and
'easy on the eye' Dolcie Keogh on Fiddle. Rhythm section duties are sturdily
driven on by the animated Pa Deasy on drums and the rock solid bass of Dec
McCarthy. Their range of songs span everything form rock to trad with choice
cover versions given their own unique stylings, however it is in their own
compositions that they excel with the audience unable to tell the difference
between their tunes and the likes of Bell x1, the frames etc that they so ably
make their own.
