The guest speaker at next month’s pSoken Wrod is well known gastronomic author, Kate Ryan. Kate is a food writer, blogger and founder of Flavour.ie, a website that is dedicated to promoting West Cork Food through writing, events and tours. Kate now lives in a small West Cork village after moving to Ireland in 2005 from Bristol in the UK. She grew up in a family of keen gardeners where growing their own food and cooking from scratch was a natural part of the daily routine. Kate writes regularly for The Echo (formerly Evening Echo) and The Southern Star newspapers, The Opinion Magazine, Irish Foodie Magazine, TheTaste.ie, Headstuff.org and also her blog, The Flavour Files, showcasing the best of Cork produce and encouraging everyday cooking with it at home.
Kate was commissioned by A Taste of West Cork Food Festival to author an “Artisan Food Guide” featuring small to medium craft food and drink producers from across the region and encouraging visitors to explore their own self-guided taste journey through West Cork. The book was published in June 2017
Kate will be reading from her current work as well as a compilation of passages from some of her favourite fiction writing: prose, poetry and song, where food has played an important part in a scene, followed by a Q/A session.
