Songs from my Windowsill
Eoin is a singer/songwriter from Clonakilty. He began performing on his own when he was 19 and has since wished to be able to perform his own material rather than covering other artist’s music. Until now, music was only a pastime. However, since finishing college and experiencing working life, he has decided that now was the right time to finally put himself out there and see what happens.
After 4 years of wishing, Eoin is finally set to release his debut EP ‘Songs from my Windowsill’. He has described it as a series of introspections, documenting a 3 year period of change both musically and mentally in his life.
The EP seeks to combine two genres, which heavily influence Eoin’s music, folk and the psychedelic sounds of the 60s. He says that this era of music gave him a lot of confidence in writing his lyrics as he felt like he didn’t have to hold back on the subject matter or his opinions.
When looking for a place to not only record the EP, but also provide guidance and insight, Eoin felt there was no one better equipped than Brian Casey in his new Wavefield recording studio. Not only does Brian share similar musical interests, but has experienced every step of the recording process, as producer, engineer, and recording artist.
To mark the release, ‘Songs from my Windowsill’ will officially be launched with a gig in De Barra’s Folk Club, Clonakilty on the 4th of July. It will be the first time that Eoin performs his songs with a live band backing him. Also, singer/songwriter Dan O’Keefe lends his talents to open up on the night.
Speaking on the EP, the launch, and what’s to come, Eoin said, “I’m delighted to finally get it done. I’ve had these songs with me for a really long time and it was awesome to see them grow and transform in the recording studio. I’m hoping to replicate that change when I launch it in De Barra’s with the band. I think it’ll cement that change in my own mind and allow me to see myself as an original artist in the future.”
