Dublin-based band Mongoose is a musical melty-pot, combining the vocals, instrument-playing and song-crafting abilities of four women – Molly O’Mahony, Ailbhe Dunne, Muireann Ní Cheannabháin and Cara Dunne. Their music is an amalgamation of styles, with nods to artists as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac and Beyoncé. All four members are songwriters, which allows for an ever-evolving soundscape. Their debut self-titled album, released in 2015, is testament to this. This harmony-lead collection incorporates everything from from hard-edged indie pop and delicate folk to aching ballads and playful tales of love lost. Celebrated for their live performances in particular, they have made memorable appearances at numerous festivals around Ireland and abroad, including Other Voices, Body & Soul, Longitude and Electric Picnic. Their latest single ‘Old Friend’ was released in July 2017, ahead of their much-anticipated EP ‘Four’ due for release in Autumn 2017.
“Original, smart… the band’s musical accomplishment, gorgeous harmonies and an unquenchable joie de vivre make their performance unique.” -Helena Mulkerns
